An applicant for Student Membership must satisfy the Council that:-
He or she is not less than 16 years of age.
He or she has passed the Preliminary Examination prescribed by Council, or such other examination as, in the opinion of Council, is equivalent thereto.
He or she is receiving regular training in the Science of Electronics and its application.
He or she intends to satisfy the conditions of election to Graduateship of the Institution.
Upon reaching the age of 25 a student must, except at the discretion of Council, either have qualified (and applied) for a higher grade of membership or withdraw from the Institution.
