In view of the importance of the subject of electronics and the unique position of the Institution as a body specifically devoted to the study and development of this relatively new branch of science, it was decided, in 1935, to apply for incorporation, and this was granted by the Board of Trade on the 28th day of August 1935, the title adopted being The Institution of Electronics. The Institution of Electronics is a company limited by guarantee and a registered educational charity.
